Ratings and Reviews Upgrading to 8 has only been a downgrade. I mention all of the following negative remarks fully knowing I have the power to move apps, but I won’t so this review is a 3 but may as well be a 2 Overall, I miss 1Password 7 so much. When I generate and save new passwords from my iPhone’s browser or other apps then open 1Password 8, it re-prompts me to save each of the latest entries. This duplicates the entry, so I have to manually go back and scrub them. But I choose this route because it is never clear if my first save was successful at first or if it captured the wrong password string that I settled on. This has been the pattern for months. I will always appreciate how 1Password allows me to customize password key strings, so I am sticking with it as LastPass has their security/UI flaws and I don’t care for the other competitors for many reasons. But man, am I reconsidering. I wish many of us could go back to version 7. This new app version is awful for more reasons. It randomly dies on me mid save. Naturally, that hasn’t been fun. It is less intuitive to navigate; for example, I remember 7 made it easier to go to groupings like bank accounts. As someone who works with Product and UX teams in tech, the flaws in 8 are frustrating to experience. But to see no improvement to date is a whole other story. Buggy Since 8 release I love 1Password and have used it for years both personally and professionally. However, since the 8 release, there’s been a handful of bugs that have been a bit irritating. Initially the lack of Apple Watch integration off the bat was a bit frustrating, thankfully they sort of fixed that but still has random flaws where the OTP doesn’t update consistently. Another issue I’ve been running into more recently on the phone app, if I switch from one app to another and then back to 1PW, it will open a random password file not the one I was copying data from as if I clicked “edit”… what’s scary is I don’t know if changes have been made to the password or not… I’ve been clicking “discard changes” just in case to get rid of it but this is frustrating because I haven’t tried to open any other files. This is treatable every time and it’s always a different file. 1PW, please resolve this one as it has the potential to create altered passwords that aren’t correct and could wreak havoc on shared passwords between team members. Glitched I spent an entire day setting up 1Password and updating my weak passwords. I was using 1Password as an app on my phone and a Chrome browser extension. The app stopped connecting to the network, so when I updated the password for 1Password on my desktop, it did not sync to the app. The next morning, I tried to use 1Password to unlock a website, but 1Password itself was locked in the extension. So I had to put in the password to unlock my other passwords. But the password had not updated in the app because the app would not connect to the network or sync. So I was 100% locked out on the desktop. In trying to get the app to connect to the network, I got signed out. Then it connected to the network! So now the app wants the updated password as well. I have lost access to all of my updated passwords, and now have to spend an entire second day updating my 1Password team is replying to everyone that their review is better suited for the support team. Maybe the support team needs to read the reviews and make some updates? And fix the bug where every time I click “edit” on a login, a random login opens to edit, never the one I actually want to edit. O iPhone 4S é o iPhone mais antigo a rodar o iOS 8, mas existem algumas questões a serem levantadas antes de fazer a atualização. Saiba mais. Há pouco mais de uma semana atrás, a Apple liberou o iOS 8 para todos os usuários de iPhone, do iPhone 4S em diante e do iPad 2 em diante. Porém, uma questão que tem sido levantada nesses dias é se quem tem o iPhone 4S deve ou não atualizar para a última versão do sistema. No dia do lançamento do iOS 8, vimos vários artigos na internet falando explicitamente para os usuários não atualizarem seus 4S’s para o novo sistema, principalmente porque o desempenho seria horrível. Mas então, você deve ou não atualizar seu smartphone? Fizemos uma pesquisa mais a fundo e levantamos os principais aspectos para que você tenha um embasamento para a decisão. E por que isso é importante? Simples, uma vez feita a atualização, você não poderá voltar para o iOS 7. Isso significa que é uma passagem só de ida, e, se seu iPhone 4S ficar difícil de usar por questões de desempenho, realmente não tem outro jeito a não ser chorar – ou usar um Jailbreak, o que nós não recomendamos. Imagina receber uma mensagem no WhatsApp ou Facebook, e ter que esperar até alguns segundos para poder visualizar, já que o aplicativo demora para carregar. Ou, o inferno de querer tirar uma foto, abrir a câmera e esperar eternamente até que você possa realmente capturar a imagem. É exatamente isso que pode acontecer com seu o iPhone 4S com o iOS 8. Isso porque, mesmo o aparelho sendo suportado pelo novo sistema, rodar é uma coisa, rodar BEM, é outra. O hardware do 4S já é bem antigo, de 2011, e o iOS 8 foi feito com hardware mais atualizado em mente, para poder tirar proveito das novas tecnologias. Então, o iOS 8 vai até funcionar no seu aparelho, mas é bem possível que você tenha MUITA dor de cabeça para usa-lo no dia a dia. Outros sites de tecnologia também tem comentado o assunto, e muitos afirmam que a diferença de desempenho não é tanta assim como podemos ver no vídeo. Porém, lendo os comentários dos usuários, muita gente está tendo problemas infernais para usar o sistema, e esse pode ser o seu caso. Como não é possível fazer o downgrade de volta para o iOS 7, eu não me arriscaria. Além disso, no vídeo os dois iPhones estão zerados, sem nenhum aplicativo instalado. É de se esperar que funcionem bem. O problema começa quando você passa a instalar outros apps e a realmente usar o aparelho. A memória começa a ficar cheia, serviços rodam no background, e aí você tem seu iPhone lento. 2 – Não é possível fazer o downgrade Como eu disse antes, a Apple não permite mais você voltar para o iOS a última versão do iOS 7. Com isso, se você colocar o iOS 8, não tem mais volta! Se seu iPhone 4S ficar lento e impossível de usar, você não terá outra opção. A única coisa que pode ajudar é limpar tudo, dar um reset de fábrica, e o telefone ficará como se estivesse novo, então deve ajudar um pouco no desempenho porque ele vai estar mais limpo. Claro que depois de você colocar os seus aplicativos e sair usando, ele vai voltar a ficar lento, talvez não como da primeira vez, mas ainda ficará lento. Existe a opção do Jailbreak, mas não comentaremos sobre o assunto porque não recomendamos o procedimento. 3 – Recursos O iOS 8 traz diversos novos recursos, como os widgets e as extensões, AirDrop, TouchID, Handoff e a API do Metal, para games. Mas, no iPhone 4S, você não poderá usar o AirDrop, TouchID, Handoff e o Metal. Claro que no iPhone 5 e 5C você não poderá usar o TouchID também, porque eles não possuem a tecnologia. Esses recursos não estarão disponíveis porque eles dependem de hardware, como antenas bluetooth com maiores recursos, wifi mais rápido, o próprio processador, enfim, várias coisas que o 4S não tem. 4 – Tamanho da tela Pode ser que você não goste da esticada que a Apple deu no iPhone 6 e iPhone 6+, mas infelizmente o iPhone 4S é pequeno demais. Sua tela tem apenas polegadas, e o iOS 8 e seus novos recursos foram feitos para telas maiores. Primeiro, temos o teclado – as sugestões de palavras ocupam uma linha a mais. Então, quando você for escrever um email ou uma mensagem, mais da metade da tela será ocupada pelo teclado, o que tornará sua digitação bem desagradável. Segundo, os widgets e as notificações interativas não serão tão praticas assim, porque você vai ter que ficar rolando a tela com muito mais frequência para ter acesso às informações. Motivos para atualizar Bom, acima listamos motivos para você não atualizar. Mas, existem também os motivos que você deve levar em conta para decidir atualizar ou não para o iOS 8. O principal ponto a ser levado em consideração é que, possivelmente, daqui a algum tempo, os desenvolvedores deixem de suportar o iOS 7, obrigando todo mundo a passar para o iOS 8. Essa medida não seria por capricho, porém, como já existem tantas variações de tamanho iPads, iPads Mini, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5/5S/5C, iPhone 6, iPhone 6+ realmente fica complicado manter os apps com todas essas variações de tamanho E dando suporte a dois sistemas operacionais. Apesar do iOs 7 e 8 serem bem parecidos visualmente, muitas características são diferentes, principalmente nos recursos, e como a maioria vai estar usando o iOS 8, seria uma trabalheira desnecessária manter o suporte para o iOS 7. Mas quanto a isso, o remédio é simples. Deixa o iOS 7 por enquanto, até você não poder mais usar ele e for “obrigado” a atualizar para o iOS 8. No fim das contas você só terá a ganhar com isso. Outro ponto é sobre o desempenho. Como muitos usuários estão reclamando do desempenho após atualizar seus iPhones 4S, é possível e esperado que a Apple melhore a velocidade do iOS 8 nas próximas atualizações. Muita gente já notou uma certa diferença entre o iOS o primeiro, com a nova versão, o iOS que a Apple liberou esses dias para corrigir os bugs das versões anteriores. Então, se daqui a uns 3 meses você não tiver outra alternativa se não migrar para o iOS 8, pode ser que as coisas já estejam mais calmas, o sistema mais estável, e que você não tenha tantos problemas assim. Com isso, espero que você tenha mais informações para decidir se vai atualizar ou não. Lembrando que a maioria dos assuntos discutidos aqui valem também para o iPad 2, principalmente na questão do desempenho. Minha recomendação pessoal é que você não atualize agora e marque um 10 espera um pouco. Para o iPhone 4S, realmente não tem muita novidade, então se você quer evitar dor de cabeça, não instale o iOS 8 agora.
